Okay, as promised. Who says a front-loader won’t felt?
Evidence to the contrary, item #1. Cigar gloves (Ravelry link.). Knitted from Elann Peruvian Highland Wool. Accidentally tossed in the washer after hub wore them outside on a frigid South Carolina day (it had to be 35; really, it gets cold here on occasion). He was tending a big brush fire on a logging job and they were smoky, plus I think they had diesel fuel on them. But I Did Not Know they were in the pile of smoky, dirty clothes he left on the garage floor when he got home that night. The next day I pulled them from the washer (and then artfully arranged them with natural elements for a photo shoot):

Front-loaders felt, indeed. These no longer fit my husband, with his humongous hands (he’s 6′5″ and has the biggest hands I’ve ever seen). But they will be marvelous for my normal-statured father-in-law. And they’re frightfully warm now.
Evidence to the contrary, item #2. Sophie bag. Resurrected from a hibernating pile of UFOs after the baby sock and cigar glove incidents.

It looks so much nicer after felting than it did before felting. I used that awful, flat, lifeless Knit Picks Wool of the Andes. But after felting, it has a boiled wool-like charm. And it lightened up a lot, colorwise, too.
I threw some embroidered flowers on it, which I think improved it, too.

So, there you have it. Front-loaders felt.
