I’m about caught up with the ABC-along. Only problem is, I have had no idea what to do for E. I have thought, pondered, contemplated and ruminated over the letter E, and only one thing even came to mind. My elephant.

It’s not that I even really have a special attachment to this elephant, but maybe I do, because I still have it, and it’s OLD. I think (but I’d have to confirm) that my mom and dad got this for me at the San Diego Zoo when I was really little. I’m guessing 3 or 4, because the date on the tag is 1975 (isn’t it cool that there’s a date on the tag?). It lives in AJ’s closet, way up high where no one can tear it into pieces. It’s really ratty already. I’m not sure why I hang onto it, other than it’s mine and it’s old.
I do have some knitting to share. I’m three repeats into the leg of my first Artichoke sock (Ravelry link).
I gave up on the two-at-a-time-on-one-long-circ idea. Too many tangles and much confusion, even with a 40″ Addi. And I’ve decided once and for all that I don’t like Addie Turbos, anyway. They’re not sharp enough, and the cable on those small needle sizes is very wiry and springy. To finish this project, I bought two sets of Opal Bamboo dpns at my LYS and I’m going to knit these socks like I think Karen does…one leg, the other leg. One heel, the other heel. And so on. Maybe that will alleviate my dread of the second sock. Again, I’m not a process knitter.
Today I think we’re going to go see “Horton Hears a Who”. It’s dreary outside and we need a diversion.

I tried to knit socks 2 at a time from the toe up and after about 2 inches I couldn’t take it anymore. I’m with ya on making one sock at a time!

Cute elephant! I have some of my stuffed animals from when I was little, too.
Your sock looks great!

Oooooh, i’ve looked at that artichoke pattern myself! Great choice for the lovely green yarn!

I was using an Addi size 9 needle for something, and got frustrated because it was so blunt. I switched to my Knit Picks needles - I am really enjoying them. I like the thought of two socks at once - I wonder if two balls of yarn would help? I am getting ready to try the Magic Loop method - I have only ever used DPN’s, and I have to admit that I haven’t tried anything else because I like knitting on DPN’s.

I can’t even make it until one leg is done. I usually do an inch or so per sock at a time. If I didn’t knit my socks like that, I wouldn’t have any pairs…just tons of single socks. haha I am not a process knitter either. Not at all.
Your sock in progress looks great!
Oh, and from your beautiful picture of yourself from an earlier post…. you are going to laugh someday that you thought you had wrinkles right now. Laugh and think how silly you are! :)
